Seven-time champion Hamilton is a producer and consultant on the new Apple-backed F1 film project.
Filming for the Grand Prix is about to begin and speculation arose earlier this week that Pitt will be driving a real car to practice alongside the current circuit at the British Grand Prix.
The suggestion that the film crew run as an 11th team drew a joking response from Indycar driver Colton Hertha, whose planned move to F1 was scrapped because he had not earned enough points for his mandatory superlicence.
However, Pete’s advice to drive in real races is dead wrong, and in fact it is logically impossible for him to run in competitive practice from a licensing, safety and sports fairness standpoint.
Instead, it is understood the plan is to film Pitt racing around the track alone in a modified single-seater, possibly an F2 or F3 car.
This film will help provide the backdrop for the live racing crowd and all the infrastructure of a real grand prix.
Hamilton said the film was progressing as he made it clear he didn’t want it to end up being a fantasy ridiculed by true F1 fans.
Asked about his latest plans for filming at the event, Hamilton said: “I’m totally unaware of every single plan of all the different things that we’re going to be doing in the paddock and all of those things.
“I’m more focused now on making sure the script is where it needs to be, so that’s where all the time is going at the moment. It’s making sure we have a really good and diverse cast.
Max Verstappen won the 2023 Monaco Grand Prix and now has more Grand Prix victories for Red Bull than Sebastian Vettel. The Dutchman’s brilliant final stage in qualifying saw him take pole position, but his superlong performance on the medium tyres, which was almost as impressive, gave him an easy win.
It didn’t seem to come, but after 50 of the 78 laps of the Monaco Grand Prix, it did: it started to rain. After a few laps, the rain started to fall heavily, and the slick tires could no longer continue driving. Drivers were skidding around corners everywhere, but miraculously, most managed to keep their cars clear of the crash barrier or keep going.
Josef Newgarden wins the Indy 500 in an intense final stage. There was a red flag, but the race restarted with one lap to go. Newgarden jumped at the chance and outmaneuvered Marcus Ericsson for the win, while Rinus Veekay crossed the finish line in tenth.
